Terms of service

Last updated: October 24, 2026

The conditions for using SidebySpeak and its live transcription, translation and optional text features.

These terms govern your use of SidebySpeak's website, browser extension and related services. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be legally able to accept them; if acting for an organization, you must have authority to do so.

Your account

Keep your sign-in credentials secure and use an account you are authorized to access. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised. Google sign-in is optional; connecting it does not transfer ownership of another account or combine balances automatically.

You may use the service and its software within your plan limits and these terms. Rights in the software and branding remain with their respective owners; using the service does not transfer ownership of them or of your content.

Permission to capture and process conversations

You are responsible for obtaining any participant consent, organizational approval and other permissions required to capture, transcribe, translate, export or email conversations. Respect applicable law and the rules of the meeting or media platform. A browser permission prompt is not a substitute for other participants' consent.

Use SidebySpeak's controls to choose your audio inputs and stop capture. Its microphone capture is separate from your meeting app; do not assume that muting one always mutes the other.

Accuracy and availability

Transcripts, translations, speaker labels, summaries and word matches may be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Review important information before relying on or sharing it. Speaker labels are not proof of a person's identity. The service is not a substitute for qualified interpretation or professional advice in medical, legal, financial or safety-critical situations.

Availability depends on your browser, permissions, network, meeting platform and our service providers. We may maintain, change or discontinue features. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, compatibility with every website or a particular recognition result.

Plans, minutes and renewal

The price, allowance and any applicable taxes shown at checkout govern your purchase. Paid monthly plans renew automatically on the first day of each month, using UTC, until cancelled. The first month's charge and minutes are prorated for the remaining part of that month. Paid credits are granted after payment is confirmed.

Eligible unused monthly credits roll over for one following month only. Carried credits are used first and expire at the end of that following month; they do not roll over repeatedly. Used minutes are not reset by a plan change.

Upgrades take effect after successful payment, with the charge and additional minutes prorated for the rest of the current month. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal. Review the price, timing and credit adjustment shown before confirming a change.

One-time top-up purchases require an active paid subscription for the personal or team account being topped up. Personal top-up pricing matches the selected plan’s per-minute rate, with pack totals rounded to the nearest cent. Purchased minutes do not expire, remain available after a subscription ends, are used after monthly, free and rollover credit, and are granted after payment is confirmed. Team top-ups can be bought only by the owner, stay in the team pool and do not raise member limits.

Team plans

A team owner pays for one shared monthly team plan (Starter, Growth or Scale, each with a people limit that includes the owner) and manages its invitations and members. There is no per-member fee, and pending invitations reserve a place. Simultaneous calls each use their own elapsed minutes from that pool. Personal subscriptions and balances stay separate. Choose your minute source before starting a call; SidebySpeak does not automatically charge personal minutes when team minutes run out or team access is removed.

Cancellation and billing questions

You can request cancellation through Manage billing in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and stops future renewals; available credits remain subject to their original expiry and rollover rules.

For a billing problem or refund request, contact us. Refund eligibility depends on applicable law and the circumstances of the purchase. Nothing in these terms removes mandatory consumer rights. Deleting the extension or clearing browser storage is not a subscription cancellation.

Your content and optional features

You retain any rights you have in the content you provide. You authorize SidebySpeak and its providers to process that content as necessary to deliver the features you select. You must have the right to submit or share it.

Optional Learn mode, summary and transcript-email features can send text to additional providers. Review the disclosures before enabling them. You are responsible for exported files, email recipients and any sharing or forwarding you configure. Keep your own copies of material you need; local browser storage is not a guaranteed backup.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service for unlawful surveillance, fraud, harassment or infringement. Do not attempt to bypass account allowances, access another user's data, compromise security or disrupt the service. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security threats or legal obligations, with notice where appropriate and feasible.

Third-party services and privacy

Google, Stripe, speech and AI providers, email providers and meeting platforms have their own terms and privacy policies. SidebySpeak is independent of those meeting platforms and does not control their changes. Our Privacy policy explains the information processed by SidebySpeak and the providers used for each feature.

Disclaimers and your legal rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available without a guarantee that it will be error-free or meet every purpose. You remain responsible for reviewing outputs and maintaining your own backups.

Any exclusion of warranties or responsibility applies only where lawful. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer, privacy or other statutory rights.

Changes to these terms

We will update the date above when these terms change and give notice of material changes where appropriate. Changes to paid plans will be communicated before they apply where required. If you disagree with a change, stop using the service and cancel future renewals if applicable.
